Music Industry Networking Night
A few months ago, we came up with an idea; why not get all the artists we work with on Reload Sessions to meet each other and potentially connect with one another. It seemed like a pretty simple idea. We work with hundreds of mostly UK-based musicians, we work with loads of management groups and publicists too. Not to mention, the artists we film often bring instrumentalists to the shoot as well. We thought it was a good idea to get all these wonderful people in a room and get them to meet each other.
With help from the guys from Livity who provided us a space (and happen to host great workshops for 16-25 year olds) we put down a date for early November, sent out a bunch of invites and within a week we had reached full capacity.
The purpose of the event was to get all the people we work with to mingle and connect directly, so to do this we set up a few rounds of 'speed dating', people randomly teamed up and were presented with two questions to avoid formalities and any awkwardness. When you think about it 4 minutes isn't a long time to get to know someone so the key info has to be made clear from the get go.
Overall everyone seemed to have a great time and after the confusion of rushing around during the speed dating rounds we had an open networking period where you could talk to anyone else in the room. Of course we had a chat with a few people and it was great meeting new musicians too. We had a blast meeting everyone and can't wait for the next event, hopefully we'll open the next event to more people.
