The beautiful Natalie James (previously known as Allegra) recorded The 1975 jam ‘Love Me’ with us a couple of months ago. Safe to say, she nailed it. We can hear that her love of Motown music has inspired her sound in this performance; it's clear she draws inspiration from artists such as Aretha Franklin and Etta James.
Whilst her voice has a moody alto feel about it, just listen to her cover of Hotline Bling and others that she’s put up on social media (links below) to witness her flaunt her Mariah Carey-esque range. In her original song ‘Fall’ we can hear the abstract slow, electro-pop production, a stark contrast from the old-school artists she takes inspiration from. After a stint in LA, it’s good to see she’s back in the UK and recently performed in London at The Workshop, Hoxton; hopefully the start of a number of shows.
