Earlier in the summer, London-based singer/song-writer Matt Wills came down to our space to film a few songs with us. Walking in with a cheeky grin and a casual demeanour there was no sign of the nervous small-talk that we occasionally get when filming new artists. This guy was ultra laid-back to the point that he was insistently polite about perching on the edge of a couch to film instead of the usual stool or standing pose we're used to implementing.
The first song Matt performed for us was the bittersweet 'Bound To Rust', the song that was first presented to us when his team got in touch - naturally we jumped at the chance to get Matt involved with the channel.
Matt's second song on Reload Sessions was something almost totally different. A mashup of AlunaGeorge's 'You Know You Like It' with London rapper Stormzy's 'Not That Deep'. With a diction style not too dissimilar to Ed Sheeran's, Matt delivers a seamless mix of the two songs, which let's be honest, works out better in real life than they do on paper. Needless to say, Matt Wills did both songs a huge justice.
Since shooting with Matt he's been keeping busy by playing regularly around London (supporting U.S artist Halsey at Koko) and signing a deal with Virgin EMI. We could go into more detail about Matt Wills or we could just let his music do the takling. I think we'll do the latter.
Find Matt online, give him a follow and a 'like' and tell him we sent you.
